I grew up in one of those Judeo-Christian homes that apparently strike terror in the hearts of the likes of Betty Friedan, Alan Grayson and Kathryn Joyce. My parents never had sex until they got married to each other. Theirs is an enduring...

Will Foreign Policy Be Our Undoing?

Andrew Sullivan in TheAtlantic.com compares the foreign policies of his two favorite contenders in the Republican primaries. I love it!

Statist or Non?

Two notable quotes from the glossary of the book I mentioned, The Thousand Year War in the Mideast, by Richard Maybury:

non-statist: one who opposes large, powerful governments and believes in liberty, free markets and international neutrality

statist: one who believes in a powerful, activist government that has the privilege of intervention in the economic and private lives of citizens and foreigners

I like the first definition. I think I'll memorize them both. They're very functional.

By the way, Maybury does not write from a Christian perspective (not to say he is not a Christian- he is just not asserting that he is)- or he would probably have mentioned that Jesus reappeared, in the flesh, after He died in 29AD. Yet he does speak of accountability to a Creator God, Who is the source of certain unalienable rights. And... the doctrine of Jesus Christ bears out his assertion, that God does not authorize Christians to abuse the inalienable rights of Muslims.

The French say,

"If you don't do politics, politics will do you", said a sandy-blond haired man on a bicycle at Florence and Lakewood, in front of the oldest McDonald's in the country. "Ron Paul is a great man. I might even vote."

I was blessed. I could see an unbelievable swell of intelligent support for Ron Paul on the Internet, but in my home state, where over 27,000 people voted for a man currently serving a life sentence, where my neighbor informed me that she just goes down the ballot and votes for all the girls, and if there aren't any girls in the race, she picks the name she likes the most, I did not expect much. I thought some apathetic motorists might like the candidate's name a little better if they saw a lot of it, and that's what we were there for.

Okay. I knew there was support, but I totally did not expect twenty people holding official and unofficial Ron Paul signs, and waving American flags would be made so welcome on a busy intersection in Downey.

From 11:30 in the morning, until 2:00pm, California drivers showed their support for Ron Paul by honking cheerily, and waving, giving us the thumbs-up (yes, thumbs), or raising a fist for victory, while grinning broadly. We liked the diesel truck horns the best.

The enthused supporters came with just about every turn of the signal, one or two at a time. They drove new humvees, mini-vans, cadillacs, sports cars, pick-up trucks and cars too old and dented to recognize. They were aged, middle-aged, young and very young. They were Hispanic, African-American, Caucasian and Asian.

Drivers and pedestrians asked us for literature, and then thanked us earnestly.

We are not just the Internet. Ron Paul is not gonna go away.

Count Down to the GOP Nomination

Yep. I'm back-- in the GOP-- for a few minutes. Don't get me wrong. This in no way indicates that the GOP has changed their position on the issues that drove me away, and neither have I changed mine. But Ron Paul...

Well, he happened to choose their ticket to run with.

Two things about Ron Paul (today):

After twenty years in the infamous United States Congress, he still owns his good name: Dr. No. They say he reads every bill that crosses his desk, until he reaches something unconstitutional, which solidifies his no vote. He rarely gets past the second page.

And while each contestant for the GOP nomination claims to be the most anti-tax man running, only Ron Paul promises to rein in the federal spending addiction.

Okay. That's all.

Was reading Uncle Eric today. This time it's the Thousand Year War in the Middle East. I want to share it with everyone in the world. But it's kind of late. They are busy, working to supply paychecks for millions of government employees. Think they'd make time to read a book before the primaries?

Make my day. Tell me you are voting for Ron Paul.
